Ken Palmer serves as the moderator of the Overhaul & Maintenance Issues forum. Mr. Palmer is currently Senior Engineer at Florida Power & Light, Juno Beach, Florida. He experienced with a wide range of turbine technical issues, such as stress corrosion cracking in low-pressure steam turbines and lateral and torsional vibration in rotor trains, and serves as FP&L's steam turbine fleet Subject Matter Expert. Mr. Palmer provides technical input for day-to-day plant maintenance and outage activities, including steam turbine/generator inspections and related equipment and working with suppliers to achieve FP&L's goals for Steam Turbine Maintenance. These activities include providing technical input for the purchase specifications, bid documents, supplier evaluations, schedule and budget development, major project management, and input for solving various technical issues with turbines and generators. Prior to joining FPL in 2005, he was with Pacific Gas & Electric for 18 years serviing in various positions related to maintenance engineering, overhauls and retrofits. Mr. Palmer received a BSME with emphasis on design of mechanical components, heat transfer, and fluid flow from California State University
