Fred Simma serves as the moderator of the
Turbine Component Inspection and Non Destructive Examination (NDE) forum. Mr. Simma has more than 30 years' experience in power generation industry
Offers a combination of technical and project management expertise in power generation (Nuclear, Fossil, and Cogeneration). Currently a consulting engineer for Black & Veatch, Mr. Simma is experienced with the full range of unique technical tasks needed to develop and manage multi-million dollar projects.
Mr. Simma has thorough knowledge of the design, operation and maintenance of power generation plants on both component and integrated plant level. He has extensive expertise in system design and tye operation of heavy power plant equipment.
He is experienced in developing detailed specifications for various power plant equipment (turbines, heat exchangers, pumps, generators�), selecting and procuring equipment from major suppliers (design reviews, manufacturing surveillance, FAT etc.)
Mr. Simm has expert-level knowledge of Steam Turbines and auxiliaries, Balance of Plant (BOP) systems, Heat Exchangers, Pumps, Valves, Thermal Cycle, Thermodynamics, Performance testing and monitoring. Conceptual and Detailed Design, Retrofits, Specifications, Integrated Power Plant operation, Troubleshooting.
