Andrew Spisak, P. E. serves as the moderator of the Rotor Mechanical Components forum.

Mr. Spisak has over 50 years experience in engineering design and management on large rotating electrical equipment including hydrogenerators and turbine generators, exciters and motors. During his career, he also managed the development of large magnets for fusion reactors, superconducting generators and other advanced projects.

Mr. Spisak is the Chairman and founder of Electro-Mechanical Engineering Associates (EME), a firm providing technical consultation services to engineering firms, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), after market suppliers and electric utilities.

Prior to founding EME, Mr. Spisak held various positions at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the most recent Manager Advanced Programs and prior to that, Engineering Manager, Medium Turbine Generators, Large Motors and Brushless Exciters; Manager, Mechanical Design Section, A.C. Motors and Generators; Supervising Engineer – Design of Brushless Exciters; Mechanical Engineer – Insulation Design, DC Motors and Generator design.

Mr. Spisak holds a M.S.M.E. from Carnegie-Mellon University and a B.S.M.E. fromCarnegie-Mellon University. He has been awarded seven patents and is a registered professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Spisak is a ember of IEEE and has served on American National Standards Institute subcommittee on Developing Standards for Safety Related Equipment in Nuclear Power Plants.

He is also a member of the American Consulting Engineers Council and Pittsburgh High Technology Council
