Justin Voss serves as the Gas Turbine Forum Master responsible for oversight of all the forum's different categories. Mr. Voss is presently Senior Manager, Boiler & Machinery Loss Control and manages the B&M Risk Engineering Program for the AES Global Insurance, a captive insurance program which offers coverage of up to $1 Billion for over 120 AES owned power plants throughout the world.

His primary responsibility is to develop, implement and manage the Boiler & Machinery portion of a company-wide Risk Engineering Program for the purpose of identification of risks and providing mitigation strategies for loss potentials which have direct impact on safety, reliability, and regulatory offices.

Mr. Voss also supports risk engineering assessments, infrared thermograph, and boiler/pressure vessel jurisdictional programs. Voss has extensive active Industry Committee and Standards Making Bodies involvement, primarily with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).  He is Past Chair of the Power Division Combined Cycle Committee and is Current Technical Program Coordinator and Secretary for the Power Division Executive Committee. Other notable committee involvement includes the ASME Turbine Water Damage Prevention Committee.


Mr. Voss began his career in the US Navy as a Nuclear Machinist Mate 1st Class serving aboard Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarines qualified as Nuclear Power Plant Operator/Welder and Engineering Watch Supervisor.  Following his career with the US Navy, before joining AES, Mr. Voss gained 20 years’ experience in senior engineering positions with several insurance companies While at these companies, he:

  • Assisted clients in in the Power Generation industry to develop loss prevention/reliability guidelines in regards to mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance and operation practices
  • Provided mentoring and training to Facility Engineers in the areas of Mechanical and Electrical Equipment Hazards.
  • Assisted in development of Key Risk Indicators for the Power Generation occupancy and administered training on same to engineers within operations center.
  • Performed jurisdictional and loss prevention inspections along with performing reviews of Management, Human Element, Equipment Design/Protection, and Plant Operational Characteristics for issues that affect performance and risk at fossil fired plants.
