PRIVACY POLICY
Commitment to Privacy. International Generator Technical Community (“IGTC”) has developed this Privacy Policy (“Policy”) to explain our online information practices as they relate to information submitted through the www.generatortechnicalforum.org (the “Site”). The Site is provided to you for your personal information, education and communication through our featured content and interactive forum on the World Wide Web, the goal of which is to foster collaboration and problem-solving in the generator industry. Please read this Policy carefully to understand how your personal information will be treated. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices. By accessing or using this Site, you accept, without limitation or qualification, the following terms of this Policy. If you do NOT accept the Policy, you must immediately discontinue your use of the Site. We may modify the Policy from time to time and such modification shall be effective upon posting on the Site. You agree to and accept any changes to this Policy when you use the Site after any such modification is posted. You agree to review this Policy regularly to ensure you are aware of and accept any changes made.
Collection and Use of Non-Personal Information. If you browse through the Site without entering any personal data, we will gather and store certain information about your visit. This information does not identify you personally and cannot be linked back to you unless you decide at some point to identify yourself. If you are only browsing, we collect the following information: IP address, the type of browser and operating system used to access our Site, the date and time you access our Site, the pages you visit (click-through) or if you linked to our Site from another website, the address of that website as well as additional information related to your visit, (Browsing Data); user form posts, comments, date and time of posts, files, uploaded data, and username information related to forum activity (Forum Data); and Cookies.
We use non-personal information in a variety of ways, including to help analyze Site traffic, understand customer needs and trends, carry out targeted promotional activities, and to improve our services. We may use your non-personal information by itself or aggregate it with information we have obtained from others. We may share your non-personally identifying, anonymous information with our affiliated companies and unaffiliated third parties to achieve these objectives and others.
Browse Data. We collect Browse Data for purposes of system administration, to report non-personal aggregate information to others, and to track the use of our Site. Browse Data is considered non-personal information and may also be shared with third parties and affiliates. It is not our practice to link Browse Data to anything personally identifiable; that is, the visitor’s session will be logged, but the visitor remains anonymous to us.
Cookies. We may analyze the information derived from Cookies and other technological tools we employ (such as clear gifs/web beacons) and match this information with data provided by you or another party. We may provide our analysis and certain non-personal information to third parties or affiliates (who may in turn use this information to provide advertisements tailored to your interests). Forum Data. If you choose to transmit, submit or post information through the Site’s chat rooms, bulletin boards or other forums (the “Forum”), we will collect the information you provide. The protections described in this Policy do not apply when you provide information (including personal information) in connection with your use of the Forum, and you have no expectation of privacy related thereto. We may use personal and non-personal information about, or submitted by, you to identify you with a posting in the Forum. Any information you share in the Forum is public information and may be seen or collected by anyone, including third parties or affiliates that do not adhere to our Policy. Do not post, share, or upload any trade secret or confidential information because by doing so such information shall lose its trade secret or confidential status. We are not responsible for events arising from the distribution of any information you choose to publicly post or share through our Site. We shall also retain this information as necessary to resolve disputes, provide customer support and troubleshoot problems as permitted by law and pursuant to our Terms of Use. All comments, files, text, and content that you submit to the Forum will be owned by IGTC. To ensure the privacy of your personal information, you must not disclose, post, or upload your personal information, or the personal information of another, to the Forum.
This Site contains links to other sites. These include links to resources in related topics and third-party sites that offer other related products. If you visit another website through a link on our Site, please consult the Policy of the website you are visiting. IGTC IS NOT RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR THE PRIVACY PRACTICES OR THE CONTENT OF THIRD PARTY OR AFFILIATE WEBSITES THAT YOU MAY VISIT.
Collection and Use of Personal Information. If you register as a user through the Site, we will collect your occupation, first name, last name, email address, company, city, and country information in order to create a user account. We may collect additional information that you elect to submit on the user registration page. We also collect the email addresses of consumers who communicate with us or through our authorized vendors via email. Any information provided by consumers becomes our property once received by us and may be used and disclosed as permitted in this Policy. We may share your personal information with our affiliated companies (defined as companies or people actively supporting the site through their support in technical moderator positions) or unaffiliated third parties in order to identify products or services in which you may have interest, to improve your user experience and generally to engage in market research and for other internal business purposes. We may also aggregate your personal information with others’ information and prepare reports on Site usage, purchase history or other factors for sale or distribution to others. Those reports are aggregated and include no personally identifying information. Finally, we may use your personal information to send you email or postal communications regarding products or services offered by us or by third parties with whom we have relationships in which we think you may find to be of value or of interest. We do not sell, or rent your personal information to unaffiliated third parties. You may at any time choose not to receive promotional emails from us by contacting us at webmaster@generatortechnicalforum.org, or opting-out of such communications. Notwithstanding the foregoing, as long as you are a registered user, you permit IGTC to continue to contact you for the purpose of communicating information relating to this Site, as well as to facilitate, complete, or confirm any transaction that you may enter into or responding to your inquiry or request. Security.This Site has reasonable security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control.
Third Party Advertising.We use third party advertising companies and others to serve ads when you visit the Site. These companies use non-personally identifiable information regarding your visit to this Site and other sites, such as the user IP address, pages viewed, date and time of your visit, and number of times you have viewed an ad (but not your name, address, or other personal information), to serve ads to you on this Site and other sites that may be of interest to you. In the course of serving advertisements to this Site, our third-party advertiser may place or recognize a unique cookie on your browser. Specifically, and as an example, Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this Site. Google’s use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and other websites on the Internet. You may opt-out of the use of the DART cookies by visiting the Google ad and content network Policy. In addition, we use clear GIFs or pixel tags to help manage our online advertising. These clear GIFs enable our ad serving company to recognize a browser’s cookie when a browser visits this Site. This allows us to learn which banner ads bring users to our Site. Children. The features, programs, promotions and other aspects of our Site requiring the submission of personally identifiable information are not in any way intended for children. A parent or guardian of a child under the age of 13 may review and request deletion of such child’s personally identifiable information as well as prohibit the use thereof.
Information of Others. If you choose to submit the information of someone other than yourself without IGTC’s knowledge, the information will be handled in accordance with this Policy. You, however, are solely responsible and liable for any claims relating to your submission and use of that information.
Changes To Our Policy. We reserve the right to change our Policy from time to time. If we make any substantial changes, we will notify you by displaying a new “Posted” date at the top of our Policy.
Your California Privacy Rights. California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits users of IGTC’s Site who are California residents to request certain information regarding its disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
